About Us
UKHSS have delivered the ROLO training programme for over 15 years, the BALI-approved ROLO Health, Safety & Environmental Courses as it's known. Our training and consultancy packages equip our customers with a no fuss approach to health and safety. In effect, we strive to take the effort out of your safety effort!
ROLO Online
Our interactive, tutor led ZOOM course (other platforms available) consists of the default BALI presentation with what we hope is a twist. You get the pre-determined content for assessment purposes with case studies and other tutor interactions to enhance your learning experience.
ROLO (Register of Land-based Operations) is recognised by Build UK as one of the leading Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Courses in the UK, designed exclusively for the Land-based industries by landscaping professionals.
ROLO was developed and is owned by the British Association of Landscape Industries to raise the standard of health and safety, environmental awareness, and reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace.
Is ROLO important?
The Department of Trade & Industry made it a ‘duty of care’ that all trade bodies ensure that their members are adequately trained in health and safety and that all employers should demonstrate their personnel are correctly trained. In July 2014 the United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) officially recognised BALI’s ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Course under its UKCG Health and Safety Training Standard, now known as Build UK.
ROLO Operative courses
The ROLO Operative course is an introductory health and safety qualification and a precursor to obtaining a LISS/CSCS card. The training covers the basics of Health & Safety law, regulations, risk assessment, hazard awareness, protective equipment, working at height, manual handling awareness, excavations, PUWER, LOLER and the list goes on....

It also encourages employers to keep a record of workers in the Land-based sector who have achieved a recognised level of competence. The ROLO training course when completed online, is a cost effective way of achieving ROLO certification for lower numbers of delegates.
